Only schools with 50 or more candidates are ranked. Pass rates depend heavily on the students each school takes in; value added, ranked separately, takes this into account.

What is value added?

Value added, calculated by the French Ministry of Education, compares a school’s pass rate with the rate that could be expected given its students’ profile (age, social background, prior attainment): +5 means five points above that expected rate, −5 five points below. It measures what the school adds, not the level of its students.
